…and we wouldn’t want it any other way. Although, we are looking forward to the winter slow-down, when it’s all about rest, repair (us and our equipment), and tending to the animals. But before then, there’s some news of upcoming events/deadlines to share with you.
First up is the Kyleside Wool Festival, organized by our pet project, Highland Wool CIC. It’s this weekend 19th September, 11am-3pm. It’s more than a market, in fact there are only a few select wool vendors who specialize in Scottish wool or the tools to work with it. Joining them are a collection of info tables, talks, a short film, hands-on opportunities, mending, and crafting for the younger set. It’s all happening at our local Ardgay Hall, and it’s free. Chasing the tail of the Fest is our annual MUTTON harvest. There’s not much room in the freezer just now, to store meat for later sales, so for now, we’re just reservations for 1/2 and whole boxes, so you can fill your freezer. Prices will be £80/half, and £160 whole. We are unlikely to have single cuts this year, so if you’re interested, but don’t want a large amount, consider sharing with a friend. Road trip(s)!
One or both of us will be attending wool- and food-themed events in the near future. Donna will be speaking at an RBST event on 1 October, we’ll both be attending the NFFN event on 6 October, and we’ll host a walk and talk on the farm about our farmgate mutton sales with the Crofting Federation on 27 October. We hope to see you at one of these events.
…and then it’ll be time to catch our breath, batten down the hatches for winter, and spend some time ruminating on what a year it’s been…and our plans for next year.
